Welcome, everyone, to our first edition of Folkus Magazine in 2025.
We’re busy organising our first Open Day for 2025, and we’re really quite excited about having our residents participate by being present in the vacant homes to talk directly with viewers and answer questions about Village life. Once the viewers have seen the homes they’ll be able to join me for questions and a very light lunch in the Community Centre lounge.
We have completed the installation of the smart power meters throughout the Village which has been funded by Be Group, and which will allow you to choose your own providers. Insulation installation in the Community Centre was completed two weeks ago. Again with the help of Be Group as part of our Long Term Maintenance Plan, we are in the process of completing the second exterior window wash of homes, and carpet cleaning in all the common areas, including the Community Centre. We’re working towards our next Maintenance Plan at the financial year end.
In this edition of Folkus look for articles on the historic Te Kao Farming Scheme which saved the district from starvation, Stan Kerr’s previous Whangarei passenger carrier service, the herb, rosemary, and more.
